Kissavos, also known under the name Ossa, is located in the eastern part of Thessaly, south of the valley of Tempi, right across mount Olympus. The two mountains are separated by the valley of Tempi. A great part of Kissavos is declared “Aesthetic Forest Ossa” and is protected by the pan European network NATURA 2000 (Natura 2000), as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
