Meteora, is a cluster of huge dark cliffs and constitutes a unique geological phenomenon in beauty and an important monument of Orthodoxy. The disconnected cliffs reach a height of up to 400 meters and accommodate monastic communities up on their peaks . After Mount Athos, it is by far the largest monastic community in the Greek area.
