Hiking tour in Thessaly. Explore the mainland of Greece

Arrival at Macedonia airport in Thessaloniki or at Achialos airport in Thessaly, transfer to Metropol hotel and check-in . Rest of the day is free.

Our tour starts from Larissa and we head toward Elassona. Elassona is located in the prefecture of Larissa and is built at the foot hill, on the south side of Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece and throne of the Twelve Gods of the ancient Greek mythology. We continue to Kokkinopilos. The village is built at an altimeter of 1150 m., which makes it ideal to enjoy the view of the valley from above. We continue to Xerolaki from where we will start our hike on Olympus, for the tops Skolio, Skala and Mitika (the highest peak of the mountain with an altimeter of 2917m). Total walking time about 5.5 hours.
In case of bad weather or periods of snow, there are alternative routes that we can recommend.
Lunch at a traditional greek taverna in Kokkinopilos village.

We start from Larissa and head towards Rapsani.
Rapsani is known for producing wine and raki. At the village square we will have the opportunity to try many of the local wines of traditional local varieties such as,black-sour, winy (Krasato) and stavroto.
Next, we will cross the Valley of Tempi, where the view of the river and the surrounding area is breathtaking.
We start from the winery and gradually climb over the rocks of Tempi, where the view towards the river and the surrounding area is awesome. We will stop for a rest and to enjoy the view and then,after crossing the valley, we will climb down to the village of Tempi where the bus will be waiting to transfer us to Ampelakia.
The Historical Community of Ampelakia belongs to Larissa’s Prefecture. It is located in the foothills of Mount Ossa, or else Kissavos, and just 5 km from Tempi where the Athens – Thessaloniki highway passes. Manors hang on the slopes of the mountain show with their architecture that the years have left their undeniable historical touch. We will visit the famous Schwarz mansion.

We start from Larissa and head to Meteora.

The hike starts from Kastraki square and after a while we enter the trail. We pass under the ruined monastery of Pantocrator on the north side of the Ntoupianis rock. The route reaches the abandoned and restored Monastery of the Ipapanti and the statue of the hero of revolution Papathymios Vlahavas.
From there, the trail leads to the top of the cliffs until we reach the impressive monasteries of Great Meteor and Varlaam. Then we return to Kastraki passing the cave of St. George Mandila where every yearhikers climb to hang their scarves.

We start from Larissa and head towards Kissavos.
The bus takes the group to the shelter in Kissavos after Spilia. There we meet our guide who will accompany us to the top, starting from the mountain refuge “Kanalos”. We will follow the labeled O2 path and continue over the eastern ridge of Kissavos hiking a short slope to the top. The entire route is on a well-designed path. We return from the same path.
From here we will get the shuttle bus to cross Kissavos through gravel and forest roads, dense vegetation and enchanting landscapes with the sea for a background. Lunch at a traditional tavern at the Cave.

We arrive at Melivia village and start hiking at the trail. Melivia is a mountain village at the Southeast side of Kissavos, with Philoctetes, the mythical king and hero of the Trojan War, as a symbol. Our guides will lead you for River Trekking to the beautiful path in Tsouvala, that starts at the village. The trail along the creek is picturesque, with wooden bridges, waterfalls and properly configured spots to rest. At the end of the path, after 2.30 hours, we will try archery, under the church of AgiaTriada. Upon request, the shuttle will be waiting on the beach of Velika, to return to Larissa.

We start from Larissa and head towards Plastira Lake.
Our route starts from the village Neraida. The trail we will follow is the old path the locals used to transport goods between the villages of the Lake. It is surrounded by fir and oak and if we are lucky we will see forest animals such as squirrels, badgers turtles etc. The springs of the forest are ideal places to make stops.
After about 1.30 hours we reach Neohori where our hike ends. Lunch at a traditional tavern in Plastira Lake.

After breakfast, we start our tour of the city of Larissa, with stops at the Ancient Theatre, the Fort and a visit at the museums. Then we will have free time for walks or shopping.

After breakfast, we depart for Thessaloniki, Macedonia Airport or Aghialos Airport inThessaly to catch our return flight.
