1st Day: Arrival

Arrival at the Airport (Thessaloniki/Anchialos). Bus transfer to Tsagarada . Check in at Aglaida –Apartments.

2nd Day: Hiking

Tsagarada – Damouchari – Fakistra – Paliokastro
The most charming route of the area.
Following the central cobbled path that for centuries connected the villages of Eastern Pelion with the Pagasitic Gulf and having as starting point the square of Agia Paraskevi in ​​Tsagarada, we will cross part of the village, making a small acquaintance with its history. After about 45 ‘of an enjoyable hike, we will leave behind the square of Agia Kyriaki and the location of Gibrouki and enter the legendary Kagiolia to reach Rodies, where we have a great panoramic view of Damouchari . Here we can have a short stop for pic –nic.
After this short stop, we will continue on the coastal path heading south. Passing from Agios Athanasios and the imposing “Krufo Sxolio” (secret school) with the magnificent seaside (shelter of seals during the winter months), we will cross the Faikistra river gorge to reach Paliokastro on the southern side of the bay, where the first settlement of Tsagarada was located.

* Depending on the season and in consultation with the Pelion Kayak Secrets, return from Damouchari can be done by canoe kayak.

3rd Day: horse riding

Milies route
A 4 to 5 hrs route in a gorgeous natural scenery crossing the old pathway. We reach the cave of Chiron, exactly opposite of Milies, one of the most famous and picturesque villages of Pelion. Afterwards, in an idyllic landscape we continue our route and arrive in the lower quarter of the village, at the station of Milies, where ends “Moutzouris” the historic train of Pelion. Walking on the railway line passing the last stone bridge before the station we reach the metal bridge, De Chirico, in honor of the Italian designer of the line. We can enjoy the traditional Greek coffee in the area near the station or let the horses and after a 15 minute walk reach the village square. There stands the Church of Pammegiston Taxiarchon (The Archangels) (1741), that is famous for its unique acoustic. In addition, we can visit and the library of Milies “Psixis Akos” (soul therapy). Along the main street there are shops, restaurants and cafes. From Milies we can return to the Club back on horseback, on foot, by club’s car or take the “Moutzouris” train and go to Lechonia.

4th Day: Hiking

Saints Taxiarchs – Vigla (tis kourouplias to kotroni)
A mountain and forest path.
From the Saint Taxiarches Square in Tsagarada, we will ascend to the slopes above the settlement. We will cross a beautiful forest, which at its beginning is full of chestnuts and less berries and oaks, and then the beeches become dominant of the landscape.

Going up, we will visit the chapel of Prophet Elias, and after about two hours of total hiking, we will reach Vigla ‘s place – or “tis kourouplias to kotroni” , as the oldest know it – at an altitude of 1250m. The view from this point is magnificent. Thanks to east to southwest orientation, you can see the central and southern Pelion, the Sporades as well as the gorge of Mylopotamos .
On our return we will visit the chapel of Agios Athanasios of Athonite (Athonas), where we will cool down before the last part of the return.

5th Day: Hiking

Small Tour of Tsagarada
From the Saint Taxiarches Square, we cross a large section of the village to the square of Agia Paraskevi with the thousand-year-old plane tree, one of the 5 largest in Europe. In the cafe of the square we can enjoy local tsipouro or some traditional spoon sweet.
On the way we learn about the history and the tradition of the place and we know the village’s spatial planning through a varied field with aristocratic urban areas dominating traditional mansions with lush gardens and ravines in chestnut trees and plane trees.
Then we climb to the mountainous part of the village, where through the path and small sections of forest road we cross the chestnut tree to return to the point where we started.
(It is possible to adapt the route according to the wishes and capabilities of the team, adding sections – such as the top of Koutras with the wonderful view to the gorge of Mylopotamos or the chapel of Prophet Elias – or removing – as our ascension to the mountain where we have an altitude difference of about 160 m.

Lunch Break
Evening horse Riding
The riders will be impressed by the beauty of the area, passed between olive and orange groves and streams, will visit the hilly areas of Pelion to admire the view over the Aegean Sea, and run with their horses by the sea, the beautiful beaches.

6th Day: Hiking

Xania-Makryrachi
A new amazing route was opened recently. Starting from Xania at the height of the ski center and descends to the village of Makrirahi through chestnut and beech forest. We cross many running rapids, forming even the summer spectacular waterfalls and ponds (pedestal). In the village of Makrirachi you will find a wide variety of flowers such as gardens and camellias as the inhabitants of the village are mainly engaged in the production of flowers. Do your self a favor and taste bread from the traditional wood-fired oven in the village square!

7th Day: Botany Workshop

A unique seminar in practical botany
We will start off from Aglaida apartments and head down the stone-paved path that leads to Damouchari beach. There we will have the opportunity to introduce ourselves with the unique local flora and have a swim. So, after three hours hiking and an hour swimming on Damouchari beach we return to the Aglaida apartments where we will learn to prepare herbal oil extracts for everyday use in our kitchen and traditional herbal ointments with cosmetic and therapeutic properties. At the end of the course we take home our own hand made creams, oils and salts. Finally, we taste vegetarian homemade snacks and drinks .

8th Day: Departure

After breakfast, we depart for Thessaloniki, Macedonia Airport or Aghialos Airport in Thessaly to catch our return flight.
